WASHINGTON ? U.S. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX), Chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC), issued the following statements regarding U.S. Senator Tom Coburn?s (R-OK) decision to seek re-election in 2010:
?Sen. Tom Coburn is a valuable member of the Senate Republican Conference and has been a leading voice for his state and conservative values throughout his time in the Senate.? The people of Oklahoma and all taxpayers are fortunate to have him as their advocate and defender in Washington, particularly as we continue to examine ways to improve health care for all Americans, and I?m glad that we?ll have Dr. Coburn for another six years,? said McConnell.
?Senator Coburn?s influential conservative voice in the United States Senate is extremely important as we continue to work together to improve health care for all Americans, keep government spending under control, and recover from our nation?s current economic crisis. Dr. Coburn is a strong advocate on behalf of all Oklahomans and a important member of our Senate caucus, and I am pleased that he has decided to seek re-election as we work together to build the Republican ranks in 2010,? said Cornyn.
