Washington, D.C. – “Nobody can serve God and the military.” Those are the words of Senator Raphael Warnock in 2011. As Herschel Walker continues his Veterans Week tour across Georgia, listening and learning from our nation’s heroes, it’s important to remember that Raphael Warnock is no ally to veterans.
It’s important to remember that Warnock’s rhetoric, and that of those who he associates with, hasn’t changed a whole lot over the years.
Sen. Warnock has long been associated with the Progressive National Baptist Convention, serving as the chair of the convention’s Social Justice Commission as recently as 2018.
Just last year, Warnock gave the keynote address at the convention, during which time the members passed a number of deeply troubling resolutions, including one that directly called for cutting funding for our armed forces.
Calling for a reduction of military spending by hundreds of billions of dollars would have a detrimental impact on those who serve and the many more at home who care for them.
Statement from NRSC Spokesman T.W. Arrighi: “Herschel Walker has been a champion for veterans for decades and has traveled to countless bases to learn from and listen to America’s heroes. Raphael Warnock, on the other hand, has a troubling record of comments, votes, and associations that undercut our men and women in uniform. Whether currently serving or retired, all our nation’s bravest patriots must be given unwavering support.”
