Washington, D.C. – Today, Senate Democrats unanimously rejected Senator Mike Crapo’s measure that would stop them from raising taxes on middle-class Americans by preventing a newly supersized IRS. These new IRS auditors would target individuals and small business owners who make less than $400,000 a year in income to help raise revenue for the Democrats’ liberal wish list.
Joe Biden and Senate Democrats promised they wouldn’t raise taxes on anyone making less than $400,000 per year. As usual, Senate Democrats failed to keep their promise.
Statement from NRSC Spokesman Jonathan Turcotte: “Democrats have never made a promise they won’t break. Joe Biden pledged that he wouldn’t raise taxes on any American making less than $400,000 per year. But today, Senate Democrats voted for a supersized IRS and threw that promise in the trash.”
