Washington, D.C. – Earlier this week, Republican candidates won all six races in Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate’s State Fair Straw Poll. This includes Chuck Grassley’s re-election race for U.S. Senate.

Grassley garnered just shy of 60% of the votes cast, while Franken only picked up 34%.

Back in 2016, Grassley won this Iowa straw poll with 58% of the vote to his opponent’s 37% and then won the general election by almost 25 points.

Statement from NRSC Spokeswoman Lizzie Litzow: “Mike Franken (who wants to turn Iowa into California) is too liberal for Iowa and Iowans know it. He gained even less votes than the Democrat running against Grassley last cycle. History has a way of repeating itself and we know it will once again this November for the Hawkeye State.”
