Washington, D.C. – Maggie Hassan is at it again, saying one thing and doing another. While at a very rare campaign event with Cory Booker, Maggie Hassan ignored her voting record to voice her concerns on rising energy prices:

“I’m going to continue to push to suspend the gas tax, continue to push the administration to do more to lower the cost of home heating fuel this winter.” Hassan also said she is pushing the administration to release more heating oil from our strategic reserves.

That’s rich given her awful record on the gas tax and American energy production.

  • Hassan has voted at least two times against energy exploration in ANWR (Senate Roll Call Votes: 12/2/1712/21/17
  • In 2021, Hassan voted three times against legislation to prohibit a ban on fracking (Senate Roll Call Votes: 2/4/212/5/218/10/21
  • In 2021, Hassan voted four times against advancing the Keystone XL Pipeline, killing roughly 11,000 good-paying jobs in the process (Senate Roll Call Votes: 2/4/212/5/213/6/213/6/21
  • In June of 2021, Hassan signed onto a framework indexing the federal gas tax to INFLATION.
  • In August, Hassan voted against Sen. John Barrasso’s measure to increase domestic oil production and reduce gas prices.

Let’s also not forget that when she was Governor, Hassan passed the largest gas tax hike in state history!

Statement from NRSC Spokesman T.W. Arrighi: “While standing next to Cory Booker, Maggie Hassan said with a straight face that the Administration needs to do more to lower prices as if she didn’t have six years’ worth of anti-American energy votes. Energy costs didn’t go up overnight. They are the culmination of horrible policy, and gas tax hikes, both of which Hassan is to blame for.”
