In a Roll Call story today, Retread Ted Strickland was recognized for his endorsement by “an anti-coal group” and for joining the Democrats’ war on coal.
The story notes that Strickland’s position on coal grew progressively worse for Ohio over time, and Christian Palich, president of the Ohio coal association told Roll Call that, “many who had supported Strickland…in the past felt [he] had abandoned coal.”
They were right.
While in his “dream job” as President of the liberal Center for American Progress (CAP), Ted Strickland announced his support for the EPA Clean Power Plan. CAP went on to call coal a “dead man walking” and celebrated that the Clean Power Plan “speeds up the transition.”
In addition, Retread Ted’s endorsed candidate for President – Hillary Clinton – declared on national television that she was going “to put a lot of coal miners and coal companies out of business.”
Strickland is doubling down, not backing down, from the Democrats’ war on coal.
