At a lunch event this afternoon, “Retread” Ted Strickland will address the Akron Press Club and take questions.
With Retread Ted’s 2016 “not off to a great start” and weeks of bad press coverage, Strickland has been off the campaign trail more than usual. It’s anybody’s guess when this opportunity to see Strickland on the trail could occur again.
If you’re attending the press club event this afternoon, here are some questions to consider asking:
-
Several editorials, members of your own party, and voters have all criticized your refusal to debate P.G. Sittenfeld. What would it take for you to change your mind?
-
What is your position, today, on gun control? Why are you using a horrible tragedy to play both sides of the fence?
-
If you refuse to discuss your positions during a forum like debates, why don’t you participate in more public events?
-
Why did your fundraiser quit, and is that why you are underperforming your own fundraising goals?
-
We’re here in Akron today where a group of Democratic leaders just pledged their support for your opponent. They said you didn’t even ask them for their support, do you think you have the nomination locked up?
-
While you were Governor, Ohio lost more than 350,000 jobs, many to other states, and unemployment spiked to above 10 percent. What about your tenure as Governor warrants your election to the Senate?
-
Are you worried about having to spend your already limited resources in the primary instead of against Rob Portman in the general election?
-
Why do you want to go back to DC? In your own words, you already achieved your “dream job” in Washington.
- Hillary Clinton’s poll numbers are taking a dive across the nation, are you worried about your support for Hillary bringing down your campaign?
