Senate Democrats have made defending the failed status quo of Obamacare their top priority for 2017. The minority party would rather play politics by attacking Republican efforts to fix our broken health care system than acknowledge that Obamacare has failed and work across the aisle on bipartisan solutions.
It’s clear to anyone watching that Obamacare is falling off of a cliff. HHS reported earlier this month that insurance premiums have increased an average of 105% nationwide. Just yesterday, a major health care provider, Anthem, announced it would pull out of Ohio, leaving 18 counties across the state without a health care provider. These are just the latest examples of Obamacare’s fall out – and Senate Democrats would rather point the finger at Republicans than work towards a comprehensive health care bill.
Senate Democrats held a press conference yesterday critiquing Obamacare replacement efforts but have offered little effort to create substantive solutions to fix Obamacare’s many failings. Far left Democrats in the Senate are unwilling to work with Republicans at the expense of millions of Americans. CNN even went as far to say that “Democrats are taunting them from across the political aisle.”
“It’s appalling that Senate Democrats are clinging to the failed status quo of Obamacare as folks across the country are being crushed by this disastrous law,” said Katie Martin, NRSC Communications Director. “Red state Democrats are in for a rude awakening if they think the best strategy for 2018 is to completely embrace Barack Obama’s failed health care law.”
