Washington, D.C. – As Democrats jockey to differentiate themselves among the countless fundraising emails polluting the inboxes of liberals across the country, Senator Michael Bennet has chosen to throw some serious shade at his fellow vulnerable Democrat Senators:
It’s not unusual that a candidate pats themselves on the back for not taking corporate PAC money, but it is the second piece of that pledge that is raising eyebrows. As an example, not only has Raphael Warnock quickly developed comfortability with the lobbying community, but he even hired former lobbyists to work on his staff.
Using your fellow endangered Democrats as your fundraising foil is a strong tactic as Democrat incumbents across the country face increased pressure and primary challenges from their Left flank.
Statement from NRSC Spokesman T.W. Arrighi: “Michael Bennet is already resorting to throwing shade at fellow Democrats to help raise money. He knows that many of his fellow vulnerable Democrats have quickly cozied up with D.C. lobbyists and the time is now for him to distance himself. This act of self-preservation is less about Bennet’s precarious position in his race and more about how quickly Senators like Raphael Warnock went all-in on becoming Washington insiders.”
