Washington, D.C. – Arnie Arnesen, the former four-term member of the New Hampshire House of Representatives and former Democrat nominee for NH Governor, told NECN this week that Senator Maggie Hassan has “disappeared” on her state.
The statement came as part of a segment regarding Hassan’s uphill battle to retain her seat. Arnesen’s concerns are well-founded, too. Hassan’s poll numbers, 16 months out from Election Day, are already underwater. It’s just the latest in Hassan’s troubles with members of her own party.
- She’s had a high-profile disagreement with Democrat Secretary of State Bill Gardner about S.1, “The Corrupt Politicians Act,” which he said would “trample New Hampshire’s state constitution.”
- Last week, liberal activists shouted down a Hassan staffer, with a sitting state representative scolding the junior Senator during a One Fair Wage event for being for “the 1 percent.”
Statement from NRSC Spokesman T.W. Arrighi: “The walls are closing in on Maggie Hassan as she faces new pressure from both Republicans and Democrats in New Hampshire. The only area of bipartisan agreement when it comes to Maggie Hassan is the fact that she has been MIA as a U.S. Senator. Over the next 16 months, Hassan will undoubtedly try to make up for lost time with the votes she has taken to appease her far-Left flank. But Democrats and Republicans agree: it’s too little too late.”
