Washington, D.C. – Much of the discussion surrounding the Democrats’ $3.5 trillion (actually $5 trillion) budget has focused on the reckless amounts of spending that will exacerbate economic problems such as inflation. Lost in the conversation, however, are the historic tax hikes that will hurt working Americans and small businesses.
The Democrats’ reckless tax and spending plan will raise taxes on job creators, impacting 1.4 million small businesses that are still recovering from a once-in-a-century pandemic.
A state-by-state analysis from the Chamber of Commerce reveals that more than 9,000 New Hampshire employers will see their taxes go up, including over 6,200 businesses that have less than 500 employees. When state taxes are factored in, that creates a combined tax rate of 33.5% – higher than most European countries and China!
So we ask again: Will so-called “moderate” Maggie Hassan support Bernie Sanders’ hyper-partisan $3.5 trillion (actually $5 trillion) socialist spending spree that raises harmful taxes on New Hampshire businesses in the wake of a pandemic?
Statement from NRSC Spokesman T.W. Arrighi: “The phrase ‘tax-and-spend liberal’ takes on a whole new meaning with the Democrats’ reckless, hyper-partisan $5 trillion tax and spending bill, which would raise taxes on thousands of New Hampshire small and medium-sized businesses. Chuck Schumer is counting on Maggie Hassan to be the deciding vote in favor of Bernie Sanders’ socialist wish list. But, to do so, Hassan must surrender any further notions of being bipartisan or a so-called moderate. Each label flies out the window as soon as she votes ‘yes’. Granite Staters await her vote with anticipation.”
