Washington, D.C. – During his maiden speech on the Senate floor today, Mark Kelly called on the federal government – which he is a part of – to work to secure the border and end the ongoing border crisis.
Mark Kelly: “Even on tough issues, I believe that we can also find common ground. We’ve had crisis after crisis on our border, each a result of decades of failure in Washington to adequately address border security and fix our broken immigration system.”
Moments later, Mark Kelly seemed to get his wish when the Senate had the chance to vote on an amendment “to prohibit the cancellation of contracts for physical barriers and other border security measures.” Unfortunately for Arizonans and contrary to his speech, Mark Kelly voted AGAINST this commonsense amendment to secure the border, choosing instead to fuel the ongoing border crisis.
Once again, Mark Kelly tells Arizonans one thing but does the exact opposite in D.C.
