Washington, D.C. – Last week, NRSC Chairman Rick Scott presented the NRSC’s Champion for Freedom Award to Martha Llamas and Tony Selvaggio. This award is presented to conservative leaders who have worked tirelessly to create good jobs, protect the values that make our country great, and stop the Democrats’ socialist agenda.
Martha Llamas was born and raised in Mexico and immigrated to the United States after escaping from a difficult domestic situation. She moved to South Phoenix and began working as a janitor for a small cleaning company. Within a few years, she was able to rise through the ranks and purchase her very own cleaning franchise which has grown into an award-winning company with over 70 employees. Martha is known throughout Arizona for her role in advocating for survivors of domestic abuse, encouraging Latina entrepreneurs, and advocating for Latino businesses.
Tony Selvaggio was born in Venezuela and just two years ago became an American citizen living in Tampa, Florida. He is the founder of eSmart Recycling, a social enterprise with the mission of recycling technology and IT equipment from the best companies in the world, at the highest compliance standards. They use a portion of the proceeds to provide computers to kids and families in a sustainable and scalable way. He has provided thousands of Floridians and students around the world repurposed technology and organized local computer labs for communities in need in the United States and Latin America.
