Washington, D.C. – This weekend, President Biden’s “Build Back Broke” agenda came to a screeching halt. The death knell for the current version of the bill came when Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) said he wouldn’t support it, stating: “My Democratic colleagues in Washington are determined to dramatically reshape our society in a way that leaves our country even more vulnerable to the threats we face. I cannot take that risk.”

Unfortunately for vulnerable Democrats like Maggie Hassan, Mark Kelly, Raphael Warnock, Michael Bennet, and Catherine Cortez Masto, this announcement came after they stuck their necks out for this bill that would raise taxes on the middle class, cut taxes for the rich, grant amnesty to millions of illegal immigrants, give away billions of dollars to special interests, and spike inflation to even higher historic levels.

Instead of going back to the drawing board to protect the President’s agenda and his razor-thin majority, Chuck Schumer has decided to appease his potential primary rival, Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio Cortez, and force his vulnerable members to vote on the failed “Build Back Broke” bill…multiple times!

This is a disaster scenario for vulnerable Democrats in the U.S. Senate.

Statement from NRSC Spokesman Chris Hartline:  “It’s a nightmare before Christmas for Maggie Hassan, Raphael Warnock, Mark Kelly, Catherine Cortez Masto and Michael Bennet who went out on a limb to support trillions of dollars in new inflation-inducing spending and massive tax hikes on middle-class families and job creators only to have the rug pulled out from under them. We appreciate these Senators’ willingness to reveal themselves as the liberals they really are rather than the moderates they pretend to be. And we certainly appreciate Senator Schumer’s insistence that vulnerable Democrats vote multiple times to support this reckless tax and spending spree.”
