Washington, D.C. – Nevada’s Catherine Cortez Masto has abandoned Nevada voters, and now, they are abandoning her. According to December data from the Nevada Secretary of State, Democrats are far outpacing Republicans when it comes to switching party affiliations. As The Nevada Independent reported, “more than two-and-a-half times as many Democrats changed their party registrations to Republican” and “about one and a half times more Dems switched to nonpartisan as did Republicans.”
Republicans and Independents gaining strength in Nevada is bad news for Cortez Masto who is in a tough reelection battle this November. According to a recent NRSC poll, Cortez Masto is poised to lose to a potential Republican challenger 46% to 42%. The NRSC poll comes after three other 2021 polls also found Cortez Masto losing to her potential Republican challenger.
Statement from NRSC Spokeswoman Katharine Cooksey: “Nevadans are fed up with Catherine Cortez Masto’s failed leadership. Voters leaving the Democrat Party in droves shows that Cortez Masto is in big trouble this November. Nevadans are ready for a new senator who will actually fight for them in Washington.”
