Washington, D.C. – Since Tim Ryan announced his campaign for U.S. Senate, he has tried to distance himself from Biden and his party.
- He was embarrassed to call himself a ‘Democrat’ when he first entered the race.
- He refuses to say if he wants his party’s leader – Joe Biden – to endorse his campaign.
- He claims, ‘Democrats can’t get out if their own way’ ahead of the midterms.
In addition, Tim Ryan has completely flip-flopped on the federal response to COVID-19 and has thrown Biden under the bus. Distancing himself even more from his Democrat leaders.
Before he jumped into the Senate race, Ryan praised Biden in a tweet: “Finally, a year into the COVID pandemic, we have strong leadership to turn this tragedy around.” But now, he is panning Biden on COVID.
Why? Approval ratings are dropping and the “American Rescue Plan” that Tim Ryan voted for, and Joe Biden signed into law, isn’t actually working to “destroy the virus” as Biden promised.
Statement from NRSC Spokeswoman Lizzie Litzow: “Tim Ryan is jumping ship, pushing the blame, and throwing Biden under the bus in attempts to save his own political career. Ohioans see right through his election year flip-flops though and know the real Tim Ryan. We do, however, enjoy watching Tim Ryan scramble to figure out which political identity will work best for him in that moment.”
