Washington, D.C. – Just a few days ago, President Biden called Peter Doocy a “stupid son of a bitch” because he dared to ask if he was concerned about inflation being an issue in the midterms. Well today, the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) issued a report that shows the Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) price index, a key inflation metric, rose by 5.8% over the last year, the largest such increase in 39 years.
As Americans struggle to make ends meet while costs at the pump, the grocery store, and more go up, those in swing states think the Biden Administration’s “Build Back [Broke]” legislation will make their problems worse. A new poll found that 57% of these swing state voters thought that “Build Back Broke” would worsen inflation, while 63% believe that now is not the time to pass new spending. The poll surveyed voters in Arizona, Colorado, Montana, New Hampshire, Nevada, and West Virginia.
Americans grasp basic economics. They know that dumping more money and demand on a strained supply chain and overburdened businesses will only cause prices to increase more. This inflation doesn’t hurt the wealthy, but rather, poor and working-class families across the country.
Statement from NRSC Spokesman T.W. Arrighi: “President Biden may think that he is able to laugh off concern about inflation, but according to every polling metric available, he is sorely mistaken. Americans are hurting and they know who is causing the pain – it’s Joe Biden and Senate Democrats like Maggie Hassan, Raphael Warnock, Mark Kelly, Catherine Cortez Masto, and Michael Bennet. You’d have to be a stupid S.O.B to dismiss voters’ concerns as they struggle to make ends meet due to your own inflationary policies.”
