Washington, D.C. – The Biden agenda is in tatters and Democrats are blaming Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and White House Chief of Staff Ron Klain.
For months, Democrats have been whispering about their frustrations with Schumer and his never-ending quest to avoid a primary fight with Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Now, in the wake of Build Back Broke’s defeat, they are voicing their complaints directly to the LA Times:
“So, Manchin walked away [from Build Back Better] because the White House was putting too much of a spotlight on him — and your response to that is to lean in further on voting rights so that he, once again, is seen as the problem?” said one Democratic senator who called the strategy “idiotic.”
It’s only a matter of time before quotes like this are said on-the-record. The longer Schumer looks out only for himself, the more likely a Republican majority in the Senate becomes.
Statement from NRSC Spokesman T.W. Arrighi: “Senate Democrats are a mess and the ugly finger-pointing in the press has begun. When Republicans take back the Senate in November, it will be because of Chuck Schumer’s inept leadership, and Democrats know it.”
