Washington, D.C. – Just weeks after Senator Raphael Warnock cosponsored an overtly political gas tax holiday, he is still working overtime to convince Georgians that he doesn’t have one of the most anti-American energy records in the Senate.
Part of his proposal is to tap into U.S. oil reserves. All of this after he stripped American energy producers of many of their means to create more supply and keep our nation 100% energy independent. This comes at a time when Georgia drivers are paying $3.966 per gallon.
Let’s take a deeper look:
- In 2021, Warnock voted against canceling the Biden Administration’s ban on oil and gas leasing on federal lands (8/10/21)
- In 2021, Warnock voted three times against legislation to prohibit a ban on fracking (Senate Roll Call Votes: 2/4/21, 2/5/21, 8/10/21)
- In 2021, Warnock voted four times against advancing the Keystone XL Pipeline, killing roughly 11,000 good-paying jobs in the process (Senate Roll Call Votes: 2/4/21, 2/5/21, 3/6/21, 3/6/21)
- Warnock has a 100% lifetime rating from the League Of Conservation Voters, a group leading advocacy of the Green New Deal (National Environmental Scorecard, League Of Conservation Voters)
Statement from NRSC Spokesman T.W. Arrighi: “For years, Raphael Warnock did everything in his power to slow the growth of American energy. He scuttled pipelines, blocked drilling and was hostile to fracking. Now, he is trying to wash away his record of anti-American energy votes. Georgians won’t forget that he is a big reason we are in this mess.”
