Voters Say Inflation is Top Issue in 2022
Washington, D.C. – With prices at the pump reaching record-highs this week and inflation at a 40-year high once again, it is no wonder that in a new Wall Street Journal poll 50% of respondents cite inflation as the top issue for the government to tackle.
Voters are focusing on skyrocketing prices everywhere they look, and that spells trouble for Senate Democrats on the ballot this November. According to the same poll, 63% of voters disapprove of Joe Biden’s handling of rising costs and inflation and “47% of voters said Republicans were better able to handle inflation, compared with 30% who preferred Democrats.”
Inflation and the economy aren’t the only issues leading to Democrats’ cratering numbers. Voters trust Republicans – not Democrats – on other important issues like reducing crime, securing the border, and keeping schools open for in-person learning.
On the issues that matter most, Democrats are failing the American people.
Statement from NRSC Spokeswoman Katharine Cooksey: “Vulnerable Senate Democrats like Mark Kelly, Catherine Cortez Masto, Maggie Hassan, Raphael Warnock, and Michael Bennet are ignoring the issues voters care about most. No wonder Republicans hold a 5-point lead on the generic ballot.”
