Washington, D.C. – While much of our attention is rightfully on Putin’s war in Ukraine, another international disaster is brewing as history repeats itself in Iran.
The U.S. is once again on the cusp of entering an agreement with Iran that not only has Russia’s approval but will remove sanctions and put Iran, once again, on a path toward a nuclear weapon.
Reports of what could be in the deal are so bad that a dozen House Democrats – but not Democrat senate hopefuls Reps. Val Demings, Conor Lamb nor Tim Ryan – have already written a letter to President Joe Biden to voice their strong disapproval. In the Senate, all Democrats are silent, including vulnerable Senate Democrats like Maggie Hassan, Mark Kelly, Catherine Cortez Masto, Raphael Warnock, and Michael Bennet.
Following President Biden’s announcement that he would try to re-enter the disastrous JCPOA (Iran Deal), the NRSC conducted a poll last summer on the issue with likely voters. The results were decisive:
Statement from NRSC Spokesman T.W. Arrighi: “President Biden – with the implicit support of silent Senate Democrats and Democrat senate hopefuls – is committed to sign a deal that ensures Iran will eventually get nuclear weapons, and rake in untold billions of American dollars in the process – all of which will go to fund the largest state sponsor of terrorism. Senate Democrats and Senate hopefuls need to speak out or be labeled by history as cowards.”
