Washington, D.C. — The one thing we know about Tim Ryan is that he follows wherever the political winds are blowing. As a 20-year career politician, Tim Ryan’s been all over the map on almost every issue.
The latest Ryan flip-flop: the fentanyl crisis. In 2022 thus far, there have been over 7,000 pounds of fentanyl seizures and 971 fentanyl seizure events thanks to Joe Biden’s and Senate Democrats’ open border policies.
Earlier this week, Ryan introduced legislation that would recognize fentanyl as a weapon of mass destruction. However, he has previously voted multiple times against efforts to crack down on fentanyl and strengthen narcotics enforcement.
- In 2021, Ryan voted against a committee amendment to direct $75 million for the DEA’s efforts to address fentanyl trafficking.
- In 2020, Ryan did not cast a vote on a bill extending a ban on fentanyl.
- In 2018, Ryan voted against a bill to crack down on synthetic analogues for illegal drugs such as fentanyl.
- In 2017, Ryan voted against increased funding for the International Narcotics Control & Law Enforcement Division.
To make matters worse regarding his previous votes, in 2020, fentanyl was involved in 81% of overdose deaths in Ohio.
Two-faced Tim’s votes were taken in accordance with what his Washington Democrats wanted, not what was in the best interest of Ohio. His flip-flop only signals that there’s a change in the political winds.
