Pennsylvania State Police Spent $3,500 During the Trip

Washington, D.C. – Pennsylvania Lt. Gov. John Fetterman advocated for strict COVID-19 lockdowns, masking, and other measures to fight the pandemic. In March 2020, he vowed that he and his family would “stay at home, minimizing social interactions and trips to indoor public places” and criticized anti-lockdown protestors. Despite this and amid the surge of COVID-19 cases in PA and NJ, Fetterman took a vacation with his family and taxpayer-funded security detail in June 2020 to Ocean City, NJ.

According to records obtained by the Washington Free Beacon, the Pennsylvania state police spent $3,500 (of taxpayer money) for overtime, food, and lodging during Fetterman’s trip to Ocean City, N.J., from June 24-27, 2020. This was during the same time when families were told by Fetterman and the government to not leave their homes.

Statement from NRSC Spokeswoman Lizzie Litzow: “Not only is John Fetterman a hypocrite, but he wrongfully used taxpayers’ hard-earned dollars for personal purposes. Pennsylvanians deserve better: a senator who practices what they preach and a senator who doesn’t abuse the taxpayers’ dollars.”

P.S. Fetterman was last spotted May 13, 2022.
