Pennsylvania’s Bernie Bro Backs Funding Cuts for Troops, Nuclear-Armed Iran
Washington, D.C. – This week, John Fetterman was endorsed by Peace Action, which previously endorsed Bernie Sanders for president. Fetterman said he was grateful for the endorsement and that their ideas were his “kind of foreign policy.”
Peace Action advocates for slashing the defense budget and lifting sanctions on Iran:
- Their website features “abolish nukes now” signs and claims the organization works to “achieve a world free of nuclear weapons …”
- They call for the “global abolition” of nuclear weapons and argues the United States “must lead the way” in doing so.
- They advocate for slashing the defense budget, and specifically cited a 10% reduction in the base pentagon budget.
- They advocate for lifting “maximum pressure” sanctions on Iran due to COVID-19.
- A May 2015 Peace Action post is headlined: “Take Action: Tell President Obama to Stop Protecting Israel’s Nuclear Weapons Monopoly in the Middle East.”
- In 2015, they questioned: “Why can Israel have a nuke, but not Iran?”
So, is Fetterman still grateful for their endorsement? Is this the type of foreign policy he wants to see if elected to the Senate?
