The Appleton Post-Crescent reported on the four ways Senator Tammy Baldwin can lose in 2018. It’s not looking good for this 30-year liberal politician.
1. Madison Liberal Tammy Baldwin fails to identify with Trump voters.
Sen. Baldwin is from one of the most liberal cities in the state, which is why it’s no surprise she’s Wisconsin’s own Elizabeth Warren.
So, how does she keep up with her #Resist base while not alienating rural voters? “Some of the issues she’s defined herself on are not winning issues in northern Wisconsin, ” said Lawrence University government professor Arnold Shober.
After building a career on being a far-left winger, she has no clue what Main Street Wisconsinites want. Take tax relief for example. Rather than supporting the current plan that cuts taxes, Tax-hike Tammy decided to pile onto the trillions of dollars in tax increases she’s already supported.
Good luck explaining that to Northern Wisconsinites.
2. Wisconsinites won’t forget Sen. Baldwin’s failure to act on the Tomah VA scandal.
Sen. Baldwin knew about the gross mismanagement of Tomah’s VA hospital, yet did nothing except fire her Deputy State Director as a cover up.
“I suspect the Tomah VA scandal will be very high on the list of attacks” against her, said Collin Roth.
Due to her inaction, at least five veterans fatally overdosed.
3. Sen. Baldwin is a career politician.
Sen. Baldwin’s political career is 31 years old. Babies have been born, graduated college, joined the workforce, and started their own families in the time Sen. Baldwin has been an elected official.
“Considering Baldwin has been in political office since 1986, it’s hard to argue she’s an outsider.”
In 2016, Wisconsinites sent outsiders to Washington. President Donald Trump and Senator Ron Johnson have decades of business experience rather than decades of political experience like Sen. Baldwin.
4. Sen. Baldwin has to run on her own record – and it’s not great.
“While Baldwin could ride on the coattails of President Barack Obama in 2012, she won’t have that benefit in 2018.”
Rather than relying on Obama’s record, Sen. Baldwin is going to have to face re-election on her own extreme agenda. Wisconsinites will see her plain as day in 2018.
