At an event Tuesday, Russ Feingold told a group of students and reporters he was "not an automaton that runs for office all the time," but the NRSC decided to look into this further.
Feingold himself admitted, "I ran for office for 28 years. I started when I was 29, I went ’til 57." After spending 10 years as a state senator, Feingold decided to run for US Senate in 1992. He ran for re-election 3 times over the course of the next 18 years, and lost in 2010. And now, he’s back to run yet again.
The Washington Post also broke down Feingold’s career, saying:
His résumé reads: That "portion" is actually 18 years (!) in the U.S. Senate and 10 years in the Wisconsin Senate before that. That’s 64 percent of his adult life spent in office.
This non-stop campaigning continues with his current Senate bid. We’re now watching his eighth election, giving us Feingold 8.0.
While we can’t conclude Feingold 8.0 is an automaton, we can definitely confirm he runs for office all the time.
