The Columbus Dispatch reports what Corry Bliss, a spokesman for Portman, has to say about "Retread" Ted Strickland:
Facts are stubborn things,” Bliss said. “No matter how hard Gov. Strickland may try, it’s going to be difficult for him to rewrite his record as governor when Ohio lost over 350,000 jobs, unemployment spiked above 10 percent and he raised taxes by over $800 million.”

Portman’s team also recently unveiled a new web ad that hits Strickland for defending “Obama’s war on coal” and how he “turned his back on Ohio coal families.”
While Strickland has tons of bad experience, P.G. Sittenfeld has almost none at all. The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) thinks so little of him that they’ve already decided to support Strickland.
All of this posturing is futile, though, since Portman is such a stellar candidate. In a new Cleveland.com article, a political science professor acknowledges Portman’s unique tenure.
David Cohen, who teaches at the University of Akron, notes Portman’s experience and stature: "Rob Portman has a reputation as being a statesman, someone who has an ability to transcend party."
Neither a rookie nor a retread will unseat Sen. Portman.
