A new Quinnipiac poll has great news for Sen. Chuck Grassley:
Voters approve by a solid 67 – 21 percent of the job U.S. Sen. Chuck Grassley is doing and say 55 – 30 percent that he deserves reelection in 2016.
Support for reelection is over 50 percent among men and women, 72 – 15 percent among Republicans and 58 – 28 percent among independent voters.
While the DSCC has been bragging that Iowa voted for Obama twice and might even unseat Grassley, these new numbers end that silly speculation. Peter A. Brown, assistant director of the poll, marveled at Grassley’s support:
Iowa seems to be an incumbent’s happy place these days as Gov. Terry Branstad and Sen. Charles Grassley – who is a big favorite for re-election – find themselves in strong shape with the voting public.
Iowa is poised to re-elect both of these Republican officials.
Larry Sabato also acknowledges Grassley’s strength:
So long as Grassley runs for a seventh term—and he says that he will—it’s doubtful Democrats can credibly challenge him.
Sen. Grassley is immensely popular throughout the state because he brings Iowa values to Washington.
