According to Roll Call, Reid said of the bipartisan National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA):
"I think it really is kind of a waste of time."
He didn’t stop there. Defense News reported:
Reid and other congressional Democrats call the move a “gimmick.”
While Democrats are playing party politics with the defense bill, Republicans are working for the national interest.
Senate Democrats are not alone in trying to block this bill. Obama also opposes discussing military spending, and has even threatened to veto the support. Politico said:
Obama has promised to veto their appropriations measures, but the latest Democratic strategy means those bills wouldn’t even make it to his desk.
The Democratic leadership should not be blocking support for our troops just to make a political statement. Blocking these appropriations is irresponsible.
This bill would strengthen national security, but apparently Reid thinks that’s just a "waste of time."
