Thursday morning the NRSC released a video highlighting the Majority’s efforts to prevent a nuclear Iran. Senator John McCain (R-Arizona), Senator Richard Burr (R-North Carolina), and Senator Ron Johnson (R-Wisconsin) discuss the United State’s need for “strength through peace,” Iran’s ultimate path of being a nuclear power, and President Obama’s failed foreign policy.

Senator McCain currently serves as Chairman of the Armed Services Committee, Senator Burr serves as Chairman of the U.S. Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, and Senator Johnson serves Chairman of the Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs.

The Senators see national security as the “top priority for the federal government.” Without it, our country falls to the conflicts that are happening around the world.

Iran’s crusade for nuclear abilities terrifies Senators and Congressmen of the Republican Party. Senator McCain says about the Iran Deal:

“It was intended to eliminate Iran’s ability to develop nuclear weapons and has morphed into delaying Iran’s acquiring nuclear weapons. It is a great danger and if this deal goes through you’ll probably see a nuclearized Middle East."

Senator Burr comments:

“Iran’s nuclear program concerns me, but it concerns its neighbors even more than it does those of us in the United States. The Middle East is the most unstable region in the world.”

The Nuclear Deal:

Obama threatens to veto any Iran sanctions Congress sends to his desk in fear of how Iran might respond. The Wall Street Journal made an observation:

“These are remarkable claims about legislation that would penalize Iran only after the current deadline expires and if Iran does not come to terms… Passing the bill now could help persuade Iranian negotiators that they cannot string the West along indefinitely without paying a price. Would that cause Iran to walk away from negotiations? That’s a strange argument coming from an Administration that boasts that Iran agreed to the interim deal thanks to the bite of strong sanctions.”

Senator Tom Cotton (R-AR) said July 14, 2015 on Morning Joe MSNBC:

“This proposed deal is a terrible, dangerous mistake that is going to pave the path for Iran to get a nuclear weapon, while also giving them tens of billions of dollars of sanctions relief and even lifting the arms embargo at a time when they’re destabilizing the entire middle east. The America people are going to repudiate this deal, and I believe Congress will kill this deal.”

The Republican majority will ensure that Obama’s nuclear deal with Iran covers all bases of prohibiting an unstable, nuclear middle east. Preventing a nuclear arms race and protecting United States citizens is the Republican majority’s first priority. Congress has 60 days to review the deal, and a vote is expected in September.
