After being exposed by CBS Miami last week for his chronic lying, misleading, and embellishing, Murphy has taken a beating in the media.

But Murphy didn’t just have a bad press week, he suffered irreparable damage. As the Tampa Bay Times said, “it looks more and more like there’s nothing there beyond daddy’s checkbook.”

This weekend’s headlines and news reports paint a clear picture: Patrick Murphy and his fictional biography got chewed up and spit out – and both Florida and national media recognize that his campaign is quickly sinking.

CBS MIAMI’S JIM DEFEDE, 6/26/16: “We have been trying to go back to see when was the last time some body who had as little on their resume as Patrick Murphy did made it to the senate.”

CBS MIAMI’S JIM DEFEDE, 6/26/16: “There is nothing for us to correct.”

WPLG’S MICHAEL PUTNEY, 6/26/16: “Boy he took a beating this week.”

MIAMI HERALD’S PATRICIA MAZZEI, 6/26/16: “My question is why it took his campaign so long, if they knew all this reporting was happening, to nip it in the bud. Wouldn’t you rather have it out earlier in the race than the week of qualifying and the day, to his bad luck, that Marco Rubio announces he’s running again? That’s just brutal.”

DEM ATTORNEY AND ACTIVITST H.T. SMITH, 6/26/16: “I’m not certain that his record helps him…he is not an ideal candidate for this race…Murphy is a flawed candidate…he should have nipped this in the bud right away. He hasn’t, and I’m not sure that they have the will to nip it in the bud even now.”

USA TODAY, 6/26/16: “It hasn’t been a good week for Rep. Patrick Murphy.”

TAMPA BAY TIMES, 6/26/16: “We’re struggling to think of when Florida last saw a candidate who proved as overrated and overhyped as Murphy.

TAMPA BAY TIMES, 6/26/16: “He appears to be a serial exaggerator of his accomplishments…Last week, a Miami TV station aired a two-part investigative series that portrayed Murphy as an unaccomplished, chronic embellisher.”

TAMPA BAY TIMES, 6/26/16: “The Democratic Party establishment prematurely planned a coronation for a candidate about to be mauled and carved up by Republicans.”

WASHINGTON POST, 6/25/16: “Patrick Murphy Had A Terrible Week. Call It The Worst Week In Washington.”

WASHINGTON POST, 6/25/16: “This time last week, everything was aces for Rep. Patrick Murphy (D-Fla.)… Then Wednesday happened.”

TAMPA BAY TIMES, 6/25/16: “Loser of the week: Patrick Murphy…Every week more revelations emerge about Murphy inflating his resume, and every week it looks more and more like there’s nothing there beyond daddy’s checkbook.

CBS MIAMI, 6/24/16: “In one of multiple emails about the report, the National Republican Senatorial Committee giddily said reporter Jim DeFede ‘blew the doors off of Murphy’s web of deceit, exposing Privileged Patrick for multiple false, shady, and misleading claims about his life before politics.’”

SALON, 6/24/16: “Patrick Murphy Is A Disaster Candidate…The Democratic Party decided to recruit one of the worst possible candidates available in any state: Patrick Murphy.”
