Washington, D.C. – The commission put together by President Biden to study court packing voted today to adopt the report on their findings. According to NPR, the report doesn’t endorse the idea of expanding the Supreme Court, aka court packing. In fact, the report doesn’t give many recommendations at all and is unlikely to change the public debate whatsoever – undoubtedly a terrific use of taxpayer money.
However, the commission falling short of endorsing court packing is a blow to Senate Democrats who UNANIMOUSLY voted to support doing so earlier this year. Democrats want to change the rules because they know they can’t win at the ballot box. It’s all a massive power grab attempt.
Not only is court packing unpopular among the commission, but it’s also unpopular among Americans. In fact, a recent NRSC survey of battleground Hispanic voters showed that 57% oppose the idea.
Statement from NRSC Spokesman T.W. Arrighi: “Democrats want to pack the Supreme Court with liberals because they can’t win the battle of ideas at the ballot box. Today, Joe Biden’s own commission declined to endorse such a reckless plan. Democrats are (very) slowly realizing that most Americans do not agree with them on most policy areas. Today was one such reminder, and next November they will get a more significant one.”
