Looks like Democrats’ much vaunted “blue wave” didn’t make its way to Ohio.
Republican turnout outperformed that of Democrats in every statewide race in Ohio yesterday, with Republican Senate candidates receiving 155,360 more votes than Sherrod Brown. This is just the latest sign that Ohio is continuing its move to the right after 2016 saw President Trump win the state by an 8.6% margin and Senator Rob Portman win reelection by a more than 21% margin. Any Democrat running statewide in Ohio will have an uphill climb, particularly one as far out-of-step with voters as far-left career politician Sherrod Brown.
“Ohio Republicans came out in force yesterday to register their displeasure with Sherrod Brown and his record of putting far-left politics ahead of the interests of his constituents,” said NRSC Spokesman Bob Salera. “So much for that ‘blue wave.’”
