Despite a concerted effort to hide his liberal views with phony moderate rhetoric, Tennesseans got a good look at exactly who Phil Bredesen is during a recent interview with the New York Times.
Bredesen delighted liberal readers of the Times as he criticized President Trump’s plans to build a wall, and joined Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer in calling the bonuses, bigger paychecks, new jobs and higher wages middle-class families are seeing because of Republican tax cuts “crumbs.” In a state President Trump won by 26 points, the last thing Tennessee voters want is another vote for the left-wing agenda of Washington liberals.
“Phil Bredesen’s rejection of the key priorities Tennesseans have voted to enact makes it clear he’s more interested in supporting the obstructionist policies of Washington Democrats than doing what’s best for voters,” said NRSC Spokesman Michael McAdams. “With the Republican tax cuts leading to higher wages, bigger paychecks and new jobs, folks can’t afford Bredesen and Chuck Schumer’s plan to saddle them with higher taxes.”
