Washington, D.C. – Catherine Cortez Masto officially launched her campaign for Senate yesterday. To nobody’s surprise, her first campaign event was filled with lies meant to distance herself from Joe Biden’s agenda – despite her unyielding support for his anti-family, inflation-inducing policies.
First, Cortez Masto lied about her role in reopening Nevada’s economy and schools. She claimed, “Through the [American Rescue Plan], we were able to help rescue Nevada’s economy and open our schools again.” But not so fast. Expert economists note that Cortez Masto and Joe Biden’s so-called “rescue plan” is the reason why inflation is currently at a 40-year-high; inflation in Las Vegas is at a whopping 8.4%, surpassing the national average. Nevada still has one of the highest unemployment rates in the nation, and families are still “struggling to make ends meet” because of her reckless policies.
Cortez Masto also lied about reopening schools across Nevada. In reality, she voted FOUR TIMES to keep schools closed and kids out of the classroom. And while she was voting against the well-being of students across her state, Cortez Masto pocketed thousands in campaign donations from teachers unions that were advocating to keep schools closed.
Closing out Cortez Masto’s lies is the outrageous claim she is, “pushing for an all-above approach to bring down those costs.” Her votes to weaken the U.S. energy industry and limit new sources of supply are the reasons why Nevada has the second highest gas prices in the nation. Cortez Masto isn’t working to lower prices, she’s done everything in her power to push them higher.
At every turn, Catherine Cortez Masto casts the needs of Nevadans aside and instead prioritizes the needs of her D.C. bosses. No wonder she kicked off her campaign with lies.
Statement from NRSC Spokeswoman Katharine Cooksey: “Catherine Cortez Masto is hoping Nevadans forget that she is Joe Biden’s rubber stamp in Nevada, making her the person to blame for the exponential increase in the price of gas, groceries, utilities, and even rent. Nevadans are struggling, and Masto’s big-spending, far-left agenda is the reason why. Voters won’t forget that she is to blame.”
