Washington, D.C. – Down in the polls, Catherine Cortez Masto is showing just how desperate she is to hold onto her seat in November. First, she played – and lost – political games with Nevadans’ pocketbooks. Now, Cortez Masto is changing her tune on keeping schools open for in-person learning.

In 2021, Cortez Masto voted FOUR TIMES to keep schools closed and kids out of the classroom. But now that her reelection campaign is struggling, Cortez Masto seems to have found the courage to finally buck her donors at the teachers’ unions.

CORTEZ MASTO: “I hear every day from Nevadans that one of the most critical ways we can protect kids’ mental health is by keeping our schools open. And that’s one of the reasons why I’ve been working to make sure that our schools stay open…”

Cortez Masto gets an F for this election year flip-flop.

Statement from NRSC Spokeswoman Katharine Cooksey: “When parents and kids needed Catherine Cortez Masto’s support to reopen schools and to get back into the classroom, she shunned them in favor of her teachers’ union donors who advocate perpetual lockdowns. Cortez Masto doesn’t care about Nevada’s students – she only cares about getting reelected.”
