On the heels of brutal criticism from Dr. Bill Angel, Professor and former Allen County Democratic Party Chairman, Ted Strickland is again taking heat for refusing to debate his primary opponent, P.G. Sittenfeld.
This time, it comes from the Akron Beacon Journal. In an editorial, the paper outlined what Strickland, Sittenfeld, the Democratic Party, as well as Ohio voters stand to gain with primary debates.
How much longer will Ted Strickland be able to withstand the pressure?
Does he really believe that debates are a waste of his time?

There still is time, and even an invitation for the leading Democratic candidates in the race for the U.S. Senate to debate before the March 15 primary. A public radio station and a commercial television station in Cincinnati propose playing hosts to Ted Strickland and P.G. Sittenfeld. Surely, other media outlets would do the same, if the candidates agreed to take the initial leap.

On Wednesday, Portman sent a message — now with a formidable $12 million in the bank. Strickland has roughly $1.5 million in campaign cash.
And if the Sittenfeld candidacy suddenly gains momentum? The party would benefit from the presence of an energetic, informed and fresh candidate, who has signaled his own capacity to attract resources, a super PAC supporting his candidacy reporting $733,500 raised the past few months.
Most intriguing is that Strickland and Sittenfeld have significant differences, or questions worthy of exploring in a debate.
