Washington, D.C. – A truthful NRSC television ad highlighting Cheri Beasley’s disgraceful judicial record of letting off violent criminals and child predators was pulled from the airwaves by Cox Media Group without any warning or the chance to provide supporting documents that prove the ad’s accuracy.
But upon closer examination, it’s clear dirty politics were at play.
The man leading the team that ordered the ad pulled, Cox Media Group General Counsel & EVP Eric Greenberg, is a longtime Democrat donor. Not only has he been an active donor in North Carolina for years – even donating to Cal Cunningham AFTER news of his affair broke – but he also donated to current DNC Chair Jaime Harrison’s 2020 senate race, who quickly tweeted about Cox pulling the ad.
Greenberg is also a former law partner of Marc Elias at Perkins Coie. While both men were Partners at Perkins Coie, the firm was paid over $15,000 by Cheri Beasley’s own campaign.
As if that isn’t bad enough, Elias’s current firm – which mounted the effort to question the accurate and truthful ad about Cheri Beasley’s disgraceful judicial record – has been paid OVER $1 MILLION by the DSCC.
TL;DR: Cox Media Group’s General Counsel, a longtime North Carolina Democrat donor and Marc Elias’s former law partner, pulls an NRSC ad on Cheri Beasley’s record without seeking documentation proving its accuracy.
This is fishy beyond belief, and the NRSC will continue to fight and expose the corruption and Democrat manipulation happening in North Carolina.
