Washington, D.C. – Americans across the country are struggling to make ends meet due to continued inflation, 1 out of 6 homes have fallen behind on their utilities and retirees are having to return to the workforce. You would think this is an important issue for someone running statewide, but not Florida Congresswoman Val Demings.

When asked what “the number one issue” for her campaign is, Demings chose to “tuck” inflation away.

“Give me a little while to go around the fence here to answer your question, because what we’re seeing with inflation, what we’re seeing with the price of goods and services, gas at the pumps—of course, people are feeling that every day. But let’s kind of tuck this away over here.”

Instead, she stuck with her party’s leadership talking points that the so-called “Inflation Reduction Act” would help. In fact, the Wharton School’s analysis concludes that “the impact on inflation is statistically indistinguishable from zero.”

Statement from NRSC Spokeswoman Priscilla Ivasco: “Val Demings is out-of-touch with Florida families who are paying the price for her and her party’s reckless agenda. Demings would rather stick to her pre-approved talking points from Nancy Pelosi than admit that Democrats have failed American families and have no plan to actually tackle the crisis that is bleeding pocketbooks dry. Demings doesn’t deserve a promotion in Washington because she doesn’t represent Floridians.”
