During the debate on the Democrats’ liberal spending spree disguised as COVID relief, Senator Dick Durbin said illegal immigrants “do not qualify for stimulus relief checks, period.” Now, after Democrats rammed the bill through along party lines, Durbin admits that he was lying. Here’s his statement from the Senate floor today:
SEN DURBIN: “And then they go on to say, there are people, a discrete class of people, who might have a social security number, be undocumented, and receive a check. And because of that clarification and my own investigation afterwards, I will concede their point. I overstated my case.”
Durbin went on to block Sen. Ted Cruz’s bill that would prevent illegal immigrants from receiving stimulus checks. This comes one day after Senate Democrats blocked a bill from Sen. Rick Scott to prevent stimulus checks from going to prisoners.
The truth is, Democrats’ so-called COVID relief bill sent millions of tax dollars to hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants and prisoners and Senate Democrats are standing by it. Senators Raphael Warnock, Mark Kelly, Catherine Cortez Masto, Maggie Hassan and Michael Bennet had an opportunity to stop illegal immigrants and prisoners from receiving checks, but they sided with illegal immigrants and prisoners over hardworking Americans. What else did Democrats lie about in their $1.9 trillion liberal spending spree?
