Clipped fresh from the 5:00PM newscast, the NRSC released a new digital ad today highlighting “Retread” Ted Strickland’s abysmal track record on coal policy.

The ad references Strickland’s “dream job” with the Center for American Progress, a liberal think tank in Washington, notorious for job-killing anti-coal policies, as well as the 350,000 lost jobs that resulted from his tenure as Governor.

During a recent visit with college democrats, Strickland said he hopes the Senate race is decided by his “track record,” a request he might regret when voters a reminded just how bad Ted Strickland’s long political career was for Ohio.

SCRIPT:

“In a recent trip to Miami University, Ohio democratic Senate candidate Ted Strickland called on voters to judge him on his ‘track record.’

“So the NRSC news team decided to investigate.

“That dream job? A lobbyist for the Center for American Progress, an extreme left wing think tank notorious for radical anti-coal policies.

“According to the Ohio Coal Association those policies could kill 53,000 coal-related jobs, just in Ohio. That’s in addition to the 350,000 jobs Strickland lost as governor.

“That’s a pretty memorable track record.

“You know what else is memorable?

“Rob Portman – actually in a coal mine – learning from the source how to protect the jobs Strickland tried to kill.

“So Ted, all we’re saying – be careful what you wish for.

“I’m Nikki with NRSC news.”
