It’s Dairy Month in Wisconsin, which means families will gather to celebrate the contributions of famers and the dairy industry that keeps Wisconsin running. As the state celebrates, it’s also a time to remember that Senator Tammy Baldwin – despite what she says in her TV ads – has been fighting tooth-and-nail for a backwards agenda that hurts Wisconsin farmers.
Tammy’s disastrous record for Wisconsin farmers includes:
- Voting in favor of the EPA’s draconian water regulations that would cripple Wisconsin farmers and ranchers. (S.J.Res.22, Roll Call Vote #296, 11/3/15; S. J. Res. 22, Roll Call Vote #297, 11/4/15; S.J. Res. 22, Roll Call Vote #5, 1/21/16)
- Earning an abysmal 25% score from the American Farm Bureau Federation. (“Voting Record for Tammy Baldwin: 115th Congress,” American Farm Bureau Federation)
- Voting to cut $23 billion from crucial agriculture programs. (S. Con. Res. 8, Roll Call Vote #92, 3/23/13; Adopted 50-49; Baldwin Voted Yea)
- Voting to ELIMINATE farm subsidies that many in Wisconsin rely on. (S. 388, Roll Call Vote #27, 2/28/13; Cloture On Motion To Proceed Rejected 51-49; Baldwin Voted Yea)
- Voting at least 5 times in favor of the death tax, which unfairly penalizes family-owned farms. (H.R. 8, Roll Call Vote #254; 6/9/00; H.R. 8, Roll Call Vote #458, 9/7/00; S. Amdt. 307 to S. Con. Res. 8, Roll Call Vote #67, 3/22/13; S. Amdt. 263 to S. Con. Res. 8, Roll Call Vote #69, 3/22/13; S. Amdt. 607 to S. Con. Res. 11, Roll Call Vote #114, 3/26/15)
- Voting against the GOP’s tax cuts, which provided significant tax relief for family farms and small businesses. (H.R. 1, Roll Call Vote #323, 12/20/17; Passed 51-48; Baldwin Voted Nay)
“Senator Baldwin sure talks a big game on helping Wisconsin farmers, but her record tells a different story,” said NRSC Spokesman Calvin Moore. “In her 32 years of running for office, Tammy Baldwin has proven she’ll always side with Washington career politicians over the needs of Wisconsin farmers and small businesses.”
