Washington, D.C. – Despite having pledged to be independent voices for their state, Arizona’s Senators Mark Kelly and Kyrsten Sinema are on diverging paths. For Kyrsten Sinema, her path has been simple, making a name for herself as an independent-minded Senator willing to buck party leadership.

The path Mark Kelly has taken is one of a radical liberal. During the 2020 campaign, he rambled on about being an independent-minded Senator for Arizona, much like his would-be Arizona colleague. But unlike Senator Sinema, Mark Kelly has taken a hard-Left turn. Instead of following through on his campaign promise, Mark Kelly is “playing it safe, sticking with his party.”

  • Mark Kelly sticks with his party so much so that he votes with far-Left Democrats like Chuck Schumer and Bernie Sanders 98% and 94% of the time, respectively. He even joined forces with radical Democrats to fuel the Biden Border Crisis.

  • Kelly is also falling short when it comes to working across the aisle to enact bipartisan legislation. Of the 20 pieces of legislation Kelly has sponsored this Congress, only half have at least one Republican cosponsor. Compare that to Sinema: she has sponsored 16 pieces of legislation this Congress, 13 of which have the support of at least one Republican Senator.

By the numbers, Mark Kelly doesn’t measure up to his promise of being an independent voice for Arizona.

Statement from NRSC Spokeswoman Katharine Cooksey: “Mark Kelly tells Arizonans he will be an independent voice for Arizona. Instead, he works in lockstep with the D.C. Democrats and special interest groups who fund his campaign. It’s just the latest instance of Mark Kelly telling Arizonans one thing but doing exactly the opposite. Arizonans deserve an honest Senator who actually believes in bipartisanship, not Democrat Mark Kelly who lies about being a partisan liberal.”
