Washington, D.C. – Last Thursday night, Maggie Hassan threw a Hail Mary when she flip-flopped on abolishing the filibuster to pass a federal takeover of elections across the country. In a desperate attempt to raise liberal campaign cash, she sacrificed her own state’s control over federal elections and their claim to the First In The Nation primary.
Just hours after Hassan surrendered her own state’s interests for cash, the DNC began readying plans to move New Hampshire out of its highly influential spot on the presidential primary calendar.
The party will decide on primary dates by the end of January, but one thing is clear: Maggie Hassan’s voice will be irrelevant in the discussion, much like it is on Capitol Hill.
Statement from NRSC Spokesman T.W. Arrighi: “When Maggie Hassan is defeated next year, there will be a laundry list of reasons why. But, at the top of the list for some Granite Staters will be Maggie Hassan selling out her own state and their First In The Nation primary spot for liberal campaign cash. New Hampshire deserves a leader who will fight for their state, not roll over when the going gets tough.”
