Washington, D.C. – In a major blow to Colorado, the Biden Administration has announced that it’s moving the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Headquarters back to Washington, D.C. from Grand Junction, CO.
The BLM manages 245 million acres of federal land, most of which are based in the western United States. The Trump Administration’s relocation of the BLM was applauded by all of Colorado’s federal representatives, including now-Governor Jared Polis who sponsored similar legislation while in the House.
Unfortunately, when the Biden Administration began to reverse the move, Senator Michael Bennet did nothing. He never so much as threatened to use procedural measures to pressure the President and Interior Secretary Deb Haaland to reconsider. Instead, he released a weak statement expressing his disappointment.
BLM’s relocation comes just weeks after Sen. Bennet supported the failed nomination of accused eco-terrorist Tracy Stone-Manning to lead the agency.
Statement from NRSC Spokesman T.W. Arrighi: “The move of BLM’s headquarters out of Colorado is due in large part to the lack of any opposition from failed presidential candidate Michael Bennet. After advocating to put the agency under the control of an alleged eco-terrorist, Bennet bowed to the Biden Administration’s anti-western relocation of the BLM. Bennet’s extremely ineffective advocacy of Coloradans who rely on sound judgment from the BLM is yet another example of why voters are losing faith in their junior senator.”
