Mexico Joe Donnelly is launching his “Labor for Joe” coalition by praising himself for standing “with Hoosier workers whose jobs were shipped to Mexico.” Seriously.
Since Mexico Joe and his campaign staff seem to finally be willing to talk about outsourcing to Mexico, here are a few questions he has yet to answer on his own outsourcing controversy (though good luck getting an answer):
-The current minimum wage in Mexico is $4.70 per day. How much does Mexico Joe’s family business pay workers at its Guadalajara factory?
-Does Mexico Joe agree (with himself) that his family business shipping jobs to Mexico to take advantage of low wages is “cynical, it’s wrong, it’s unpatriotic, it’s shameful and it’s un-American,” or does that only apply to companies he doesn’t own?
-Instead of grandstanding about other companies’ outsourcing, why didn’t Mexico Joe stop his family business from building a factory in Mexico?
“Mexico Joe Donnelly can keep trying to sweep his family business’s outsourcing under the rug, but Hoosiers aren’t going to forget,” said NRSC Spokesman Bob Salera. “Mexico Joe’s attempt to portray himself as a champion of Hoosier workers despite his own history of profiting from outsourcing is cynical, wrong, unpatriotic, shameful and un-American.”
