Washington, D.C. – “I’ve been standing up to Big Oil, pushing them to increase supply.” That was what Maggie Hassan said this morning during a radio interview on WGIR without the slightest hint of shame.
Just weeks after Hassan proposed an overtly political gas tax holiday, she is still working overtime to convince Granite Staters she doesn’t have one of the most anti-American energy records in the Senate. This comes at a time when New Hampshire drivers are paying $4.072 per gallon – higher than the national average.
All of this after she stripped American energy producers of many of their means to create more supply and keep our nation 100% energy independent.
Let’s take a deeper look:
- Hassan has voted at least two times against energy exploration in ANWR (Senate Roll Call Votes: 12/2/17, 12/21/17)
- In 2021, Hassan voted three times against legislation to prohibit a ban on fracking (Senate Roll Call Votes: 2/4/21, 2/5/21, 8/10/21)
- In 2021, Hassan voted four times against advancing the Keystone XL Pipeline, killing roughly 11,000 good-paying jobs in the process (Senate Roll Call Votes: 2/4/21, 2/5/21, 3/6/21, 3/6/21)
- Hassan has a 99% lifetime rating from the League Of Conservation Voters, a group leading advocacy of the Green New Deal (National Environmental Scorecard, League Of Conservation Voters)
Statement from NRSC Spokesman T.W. Arrighi: “For years, Maggie Hassan did everything in her power to slow the growth of American energy. She scuttled pipelines, blocked drilling, and is hostile to fracking. Now, she has the gall to demand oil companies pump more oil. Granite Staters won’t forget that she is a big reason we are in this mess.”
