Veterans Advocate Raises $6 Million in Q3 as She Holds Thirty-Year Democrat Incumbent Accountable for Rising Crime and Homelessness

Washington, D.C. – Tiffany Smiley is on a roll in Washington State, capturing the hearts and minds of voters yearning to turn crisis into hope. As Axios reported earlier this week, the momentum behind Smiley has come in the form of big fundraising numbers:

“Tiffany Smiley, the Republican challenging Democratic Sen. Patty Murray in Washington state, has raised $6 million in the third quarter, and has $2.5 million in cash on hand …

“Republicans have insisted all year that the Senate contest in Washington, typically a bastion of blue, could be a sleeper race. Smiley could make it competitive with Murray, a five-term senator, if the money came in …

“‘I am blown away and humbled by the groundswell of support we have received, and I am so thankful to my team and our grassroots volunteers for all the hard work they have poured into this campaign,’ Smiley said …

“Democratic strategists were careful not to say publicly that Murray might be vulnerable, but they also didn’t want to be caught sleeping.”

Indeed, the thirty-year incumbent Democrat is very vulnerable, with new ads from Smiley showing that registered Democrats and former Patty Murray supporters saying they will be voting for the veterans advocate. As The Washington Examiner reports:

“Republican candidate for Senate Tiffany Smiley has launched three new ads as part of her campaign’s closing arguments to Washington voters.

“Two of the ads feature voters who the campaign says formerly backed Democratic incumbent Sen. Patty Murray, and the other targets the homelessness crisis …

“One of the ads targets the increasing cost of living due to inflation, while another tackles rising crime rates. The ads are part of a multimillion-dollar ad buy running statewide that started Wednesday and will run past Oct. 21, when ballots will start going out to voters.”
