Vulnerable Dems Trying to Avoid a President They Supported 99% of the Time Last Year
Washington, D.C. – With President Biden’s approval rating stuck near historic lows, vulnerable Senate Democrats want nothing to do with him, as Punchbowl pointed out this morning.
When asked if they would appear with any Biden officials in their states, Biden’s biggest supporters were mum.
Raphael Warnock said, “I don’t plan the administration’s schedule, I’m sorry. I’m not focused on that.” Then Warnock bizarrely pivoted to praise the President for his work combatting high gas prices, which remain very high.
Mark Kelly said, “I haven’t thought about it yet.” We doubt that…
Catherine Cortez Masto said, “I’m actually really more focused on me and talking with my voters.” We assure you Nevada voters are talking and much of what they say is not kind to the President.
These candidates must reconcile this tone with voters as they defend their voting records. According to CQ, in 2021 Raphael Warnock voted with President Biden 99% of the time, Mark Kelly voted with him 100% of the time, and Catherine Cortez Masto voted with Biden 99% of the time.
Statement from NRSC Spokesman T.W. Arrighi: “Democrats want Joe Biden nowhere near their states and it’s not hard to understand why. But next time they lament the position they’re in they may want to look in a mirror. Vulnerable Democrats are in trouble because they enabled the disastrous Biden agenda. They all voted for it. Whether the President shows up or not makes no difference; his agenda is on the ballot and Senate voting records matter.”
