After acting like a spoiled toddler yesterday, we thought we would start a series of all Jon Tester’s Obamacare promises that turned out to be lies.

Today’s edition focuses on Tester’s 2009 remarks on the Senate floor where he promised – if you like your plan, you can keep it…

SEN. TESTER: “Let me be clear: If you like your plan, you get to keep it.” (Tester Senate Floor Speech, 12/21/2009)

What Really Happened:

Politifact 2013 Lie Of The Year: ‘If You Like Your Health Care Plan, You Can Keep It.’ “It was a catchy political pitch and a chance to calm nerves about his dramatic and complicated plan to bring historic change to America’s health insurance system. “If you like your health care plan, you can keep it,” President Barack Obama said — many times — of his landmark new law. But the promise was impossible to keep. So this fall, as cancellation letters were going out to approximately 4 million Americans, the public realized Obama’s breezy assurances were wrong.” (Politifact, 12/12/2013)

In Total, At Least 4.7 Million Americans Had Their Health Coverage Canceled. “President Barack Obama then said insurance companies could allow the older policies to continue, but left that decision to the states and individual insurers. The response has been mixed. This chart shows that at least 4.7 million Americans received the cancellation notices. It also provides details about what decision has been made in each state since Obama’s announcement (some states had previously decided to allow insurers to continue older policies for a limited time).” (The Associated Press, 12/26/13)

Cancellation Notices Were Sent To “26,000 People In Montana.“Consumers are supposed to be able to buy new, compliant policies through the online marketplace, but the federally run marketplace in Montana and 35 others states has barely been working…Lindeen’s office estimated that cancellation notices went to policyholders affecting about 26,000 people in Montana — a small piece of the overall health insurance marketplace in the state.” (Helena Independent Record, 2/15/2013)

Montana Plans Were Can Canceled Because Of Obamacare. “President Obama’s promise that ‘if you like your plan, you can keep it’ will not ring true to many Montana health insurance customers after an announcement this week, November 2.” (KGVO, 12/3/2013)
